Keycloak expert Bastian Ike becomes CTO of Bare.ID

From thought leader to CTO

Bastian Ike set important impetus for founding Bare.ID right from the start. As a long-standing expert in cybersecurity, he and his colleague Steffen Ritter gave the decisive impetus to develop the platform. From the outset, he was responsible for the technical design and implementation of the product and decisively shaped its orientation and innovative strength. By appointing Ike as CTO, Bare.ID is focusing on continuity and technical excellence. In his new role, he will be responsible for developing the cloud-based IAM solution and driving forward the expansion of innovative security and compliance features.

Many years of experience in cybersecurity and open source

Ike is a proven keycloak expert and has many years of experience in the identity and access management community. As an active contributor, he played a significant role in designing the open-source solution.

He looks back on more than 15 years of experience in software development, IT security and product architecture. After joining as a software developer with a focus on e-commerce, he worked at AOE GmbH for over a decade — first as a developer with a focus on security, then as a software architect with a focus on cybersecurity, single sign-on (SSO), microservice architectures and open source technologies. As Technical Director Cybersecurity, he was then responsible for the strategic development of safety-critical solutions at AOE.

Since Bare.ID was founded, Ike has led the technical development of the product. In doing so, he ensures that safety, usability and regulatory requirements are always the focus. Under his leadership, Bare.ID was consistently developed according to the “security by design” principle: Security and usability are an integral part of the development process right from the start. He made a decisive contribution to establishing the solution on the market as a flexible, highly available and GDPR-compliant alternative to international IAM providers.

Bare.ID: Managed open source for digital sovereignty and maximum security

Bare.ID is based on the Keycloak open source framework and combines the advantages of open software with professional support, operation and hosting, which is carried out exclusively in Germany. The solution enables centralized single sign-on, versatile multi-factor authentication, and dynamic risk detection. It thus meets all requirements of modern regulations, such as NIS2, DORA, the KRITIS umbrella law and ISO 27001.
